OBITS

George Luther Skaggs, 77, Green County, KY

George Luther Skaggs, 77, of the Summersville Community of Green County, KY was born in Green County on November 9, 1946 to the late Hartley and Bertie Lee White Skaggs. He departed this life on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Summersville Baptist Church and was saved at an early age. He was a barber for more than 50 years and the former owner of Skaggs Barber Shop. It was his profession, but more so, he loved his customers. He always wanted them to look their best and took pride in knowing that he was a part of it. George loved to mow grass, go fishing, and enjoyed trap shooting. He was also a “John Deere” man. He loved his 11 Ginny’s and horses and taking care of them, and he also loved being with his grandchildren. George was also a member of the Army Reserves.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby; two brothers: Melvin and Jimmy Skaggs; and one grandchild.
