Loyde Benjamin Hicks, 87, formerly of Campbellsville, KY)

 

Loyde Benjamin Hicks, a cherished husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024. He was born on April 15, 1936 in Boone, North Carolina.

 

At the age of 9, Loyde's family relocated to Campbellsville, KY. Loyde married his beloved wife, Deloris Greer, on December 6, 1957. Together, they were blessed with a large and loving family. Loyde was a devoted family man who took great pride in raising his family in the serene surroundings of Casey Creek, KY. He served in the Kentucky National Guard for 9 years. Professionally, Loyde dedicated many years to driving a fuel delivery truck, a role he performed with exceptional service and care. He was also known for his meticulous attention to his lawn, a testament to his love for order and beauty in his surroundings.


In 2006, Loyde and Delores embarked on a new chapter, moving to Carrollton, Georgia. They became active members of Southern Hills Christian Church. Loyde's deep faith was evident in his commitment to the church and his strong belief in Jesus, the Son of God, to whom he gave his heart many years ago.

 

Loyde's love for Appalachian and gospel music reflected his roots and passions. His love for this music was a joy to those around him, echoing his love for life and his faith.

 

Loyde Hicks will be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering faith. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.

 

SURVIVORS:

5 children: Joy Icenogle (Scott) of Mooresville, Indiana; Dwayne (Tina) from Carrollton, GA; Kevin (Deanna) from Harrodsburg, KY; Darlene from Campbellsville, KY; and Scotty (Sabrina) from Carrollton, GA

18 grandchildren & 21 great-grandchildren

 

Visitation: Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton, Georgia


Funeral Service: Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 2:00pmET (1:00pmCT) at Great Oaks Ministries, 185 Dry Creek Road, Columbia, KY 

 

Burial: Roley Cemetery with full military honors

 

Visitation: Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 12:00pm-2:00pmET (11:00am-1:00pmCT) at Great Oaks Ministries
