OBITS

David Lee Givens, 78, Greensburg, KY

David Lee Givens, 78, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late Maurice Gifford Givens and Dorothy Katherine Cox Givens, was born near the Caney Fork Creek in the Ebenezer community of Green County on February 7, 1946. He departed this life, 1.23 miles as the crow flies from his birthplace, on Monday, February 26, 2024 at his home in the Ebenezer community.

After meeting his wife, Evelyn Parker Jones Givens, in Richmond on Eastern Kentucky University’s campus, they united in marriage on Saturday, September 11,1965 in the Elihu-Cabin Hollow Community of Pulaski County. He was a lifelong member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher. After education and training in the agricultural industry, for 52 years he served as founder, co-owner (with his wife, Evelyn) and operator of Central Farmers Supply of Greensburg. He was a farmer from the day he was born until the day he died. Among other activities and commitments, he loved his community, had a heart for all things Green County Dragons, and especially thrived in his Faith and loved his family, friends and farm.
