OBITS

Deborah Parrish Gilpin, 68, Campbellsville, KY

Deborah Parrish Gilpin, 68, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and very faithful fan of the Wildcats. She attended the first games ever held in Rupp Area and Commonwealth Stadium.

She was employed by Fruit of the Loom from 1973 to 1980 and then again from 1982 to 1998, where she gained a love for sewing. In addition to a quilting hobby, Debbie was an excellent seamstress. From 1981 to 1982, she was employed at Laurene’s Bridal Shop where she began specializing in formal dresses. Over the last several years, she was well known in Taylor and the surrounding counties for making alterations. She was a favorite for those needing adjustments made to their wedding, prom or pageant dresses. Many local ladies have worn dresses which were held with Debbie’s skillful stitching.

She loved her community and the people within it. She was an active member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 40 years. She served as the Vice President of the Taylor County 4H Council for a time. She was also a member of the Taylor County Historical Society and had a passion for the genealogy of her family and those within the area.
