Lyla Wayne Thurman, 83, of Campbellsville, KY, a daughter of the late Thomas Alfred Wayne and Mary Katherine Lanham Wayne, was born May 27, 1940 in Marion County, KY. She died at 3:30pmET on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 in Campbellsville.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pitman Valley Baptist Church and was in the Women of Ruth Group. Lyla was a retired bookkeeper and assistant director of the Mercer County Senior Citizens, Inc. She loved UK football, UK basketball and Nascar. Lyla also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cross stitching.

She united in marriage to Joe Thurman October 27, 1962 and he preceded her in death December 23, 2012.

4 great-nephews: Trace Higdon, Kade Wayne, Briggs Wayne and Wilder Edwards

Lyla was also preceded in death by a son, Samuel Wayne Thurman May 17, 2020.
