Garry Allen Humphress, 87, Columbia, KY

 

Garry Allen Humphress, 87, of Columbia, KY, a son of the late Lee A. Humphress and Estelle Hovious Humphress, was born October 16, 1936 in Columbia and departed this life on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at his home, surrounded by family.

 

Garry was a retired cabinet maker. He manufactured cherry furniture for 61 years. He enjoyed mowing and spending time outdoors. Garry has loved singing gospel music since 1975 and has been singing with the Living Waters Gospel Group for over 18 years. He professed faith in Christ and was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Church of God for many years. Garry was a school bus driver for the Adair County School System for 27 years.

 

SURVIVORS:

His wife of 66 years: Eleanor Yevonne Humphress of Columbia, KY

2 sons: Timmy Humphress & wife Tammy of Columbia, KY and Todd Humphress & wife Jill of Elk Horn, KY

3 grandchildren: Matthew Humphress and Daniel Humphress & wife Kaci of Columbia, KY and Nick Humphress & wife Brooke of Elk Horn, KY

5 great-grandchildren: McKenzie Humphress, Emma Burton, Rhett Humphress, and Blaine Humphress all of Columbia, KY and Linny Humphress of Elk Horn, KY

A host of other relatives & friends

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers: Imogene Dudgeon, Blue Humphress, and Harold Humphress

 

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00amET at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville with Bro. Jake Eldridge and Bro. Raymond Atwood officiating

 

BURIAL: Harden Cemetery

 

VISITATION: Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 5:00pm-8:00pmET at Auberry Funeral Home

 

PALLBEARERS: Matthew Humphress, Daniel Humphress, Nick Humphress, Stan Curry, Ronnie Humphress, and Darrel Dudgeon

 

HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Living Waters Gospel Group, Wendell Rainwater, William Blair, and Larry Wilson

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to Gideon Bibles or to the Harden Cemetery and can be made at the funeral home.
