Ruel Augustus “Gus” Allen, Jr., 82, of Summersville, KY, son of the late Ruel A. Allen, Sr. and Theresa Druin Allen, was born  April 11, 1941 in Larue County and departed this life on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at his home.

Mr. Allen made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mount Tabor Baptist Church but attended Summersville Church of the Nazarene the last 53 years. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army from 1963 until 1969. He was retired civil service boiler operator at Fort Knox and was a farmer.

His wife of 53 years: Rita S. Lobb Allen

2 daughters & sons-in-law: Teresa & Dan Collison and Tiffany & Mike Shoopman of Summersville

1 son & daughter-in-law: Charlie & Kim Allen of Summersville

8 grandchildren: Danielle McCubbin (Ben), Drew Collison (Aly), BayLee Allen (Jake), Carter Allen, Mikaela Shoopman, Isaiah Shoopman, Raegan Shoopman, and Israel Shoopman

3 great-grandchildren: Grayson, Griffin and Gavin McCubbin

1 sister & brother-in-law: Margaret & Asa Whitlock

1 brother & sister-in-law: Larry & Sharon Allen

Sister-in-law: Carla Allen

Best friend: Larry Eads

A host of other relatives & friends

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers: Harold Allen and Charles Allen.

Burial: Green County Memory Gardens

Visitation: Thursday from 4:00pm-8:00pmCT and Friday after 7:00amCT at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home
