James Michael “Mike” Denton, 66, of Taylorsville, KY, son of the late James Thomas Denton and Willa Dean Pitcock Denton, was born May 25, 1957 in Louisville, KY and departed this life on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at his residence.
He had professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Denton served his country honorably in the United States Navy and was assigned to Seal Team 3. Once he was discharged, he returned to Ft. Knox and worked as a tank mechanic and later retired from the Ford Motor Company in Louisville. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids and was a self-described family man.

2 children: Michael Anthony Denton and Jamie Michelle Wheatley & husband Ryan
3 chosen children: Tim Underwood, Kevin Underwood and Karri Underwood
5 grandchildren: Kristopher Denton, Ayden Denton, Vincent Wheatley, Rynn Wheatley, and Jacob Pike
His companion: Ann Foreman
2 sisters & 1 brother: Lavinia Denton, Roger Denton and Tonya Denton
Funeral Service: Monday August 28, 2023 at 1:00pmET at L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 new Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY with Bro. Jim Collison Sr. officiating
Visitation: After 11:00amET on Monday
Mr. Denton will be awarded full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard with cremation to follow the service.
