Joseph Stephen “Steve” Durrett, 68, of Green County, KY, son of the late Rev. Ancil "Bug" Durrett and Wilma Hall Durrett, was born June 29, 1954 in Louisville, KY and departed this life on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in Elizabethtown.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a deacon and member of the Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a retired Conservation Technician for Natural Resource Conservation Service and was a farmer. He sang bass and played guitar for the Gospel Singing Durrett Family and loved to hunt and fish.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Larimore Durrett on June 20, 2000 having united in marriage on April 2, 1983.

He later united in marriage to Stella Curry Durrett of Green County on December 27, 2008 (who survives).

7 grandchildren: Corbin Shuffett, Mollie Shuffett both of Greensburg, Edison Durrett, Ren Durrett both of Hodgenville, Kynslee Bloyd, Kree Bloyd, and Kaden Bloyd all of Greensburg

1 brother & sister-in-law: Mike & Judy Durrett of Summersville

Brother-in-law & sister-in-law: Ronnie Bishop and Marla Durrett of Greensburg

A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends

Mr. Durrett was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister: Donnie Durrett, Troy Durrett, and Sharon Bishop.

Funeral Service: Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 2:00pmCT at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with Bro. Blake Durrett, Bro. Ashley Shuffett, and Bro. Greg Whitlow officiating

Burial: Wilson Cemetery

Visitation: Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 4:00pm-8:00pmCT at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Sunday until time of the funeral service.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund or the Wilson Cemetery which can be made at the funeral home.
