Edwin Ray Acree, 95, Owensboro, KY

 

Edwin Ray Acree, 95, of Owensboro, KY, formerly of Greensburg, KY, son of the late T.E. Acree and Lizze McMahan, was born August 22, 1927 in Green County and departed this life on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Heartford House in Owensboro.

 

He made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church. He was a retired Civil Service employee from the U.S. Government. He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Air Force, a member of the Shively Masonic lodge #951 F&AM, Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM, Louisville Scottish Rite, a Gideon International member, involved in Kentucky Changers, worked 5 years as a volunteer for International mission board, and worked part-time at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home from 1990 to 2007.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Marion Sanders Acree on August 26, 2018 having united in marriage on May 17, 1947.

 

SURVIVORS:

2 daughters & 3 sons-in-law: Donna & Jim Harley of Owensboro, Marlies and George Wagner of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Joe Hammond of Hardin County

6 grandchildren: James P. Harley Jr., Autumn Barron, Olivia Trujillo, Kayla Honaker, Emily Thomas, Brianne Reed

9 great-grandchildren: Peyton Nix, Jacob Harley, Will Barron, Ben Barron, Maddie Barron, Bella Honaker, Brantley Honaker, Cole Honaker, and Holton 

3 great-great-grandchildren: Raylen Nix, Tinley Nix, Kash Nix

A host of other relatives & friends

 

Mr.Acree was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Beth Hammond on July 12, 2014; two sisters: Dorothy Harrison and Margie Gorslene; and a brother, Thomas Acree.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 2:00pmCT at Greensburg Baptist Church with Bro. Blake Jessie and Bro. Todd Young officiating

 

Burial: Campbellsville Memorial Gardens with full military honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

 

Visitation: After 10:00amCT on Tuesday at Greensburg Baptist Church

 

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take form of donation to the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the church or funeral home.
