Laymon Avery, 82, Greensburg, KY

 

Laymon Avery, 82, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late Richard Avery and Maude Meredith Avery, was born on June 30, 1940 in Hart County, KY and departed this life on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at his home. 

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Lone Oak Baptist Church in Hart County. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army as Military Police from 1963 until 1969. He went on to retire from the Department of the Army and as a Civil Service Supervisor in Fort Knox on May 3, 1993.

 
SURVIVORS:
His wife of 49 years: Gladys Renae Meredith Avery of Greensburg
2 sons & a daughter-in-law: Tim Avery of Munfordville, and Patrick & Pam Avery of Greensburg. 
5 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild
5 brothers & sisters-in-law: Walter & Sue Avery of Greensburg, James & Beverly Avery of Sulpher Well, Luther & Jo Avery, Lawrence & Teresa Avery all of Canmer, and Bruce & Brenda Avery of the Hudgins Community

Funeral Service: Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 1:00pmCT at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home 
 
Burial: Darnell Cemetery with full military honors
 
Visitation: Friday, February 24, 2023 from 4:30pm-8:00pmCT at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7:00amCT on Saturday
