Eugene Leon Smith Sr., 94, of Danville, KY (formerly of Campbellsville), son of late William Everett Smith and Ethel Grigsby Smith, was born August 17, 1927 in Washington County and departed this life on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Landmark Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Danville.
He professed his faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.
He united in marriage to Betty Lou Guenther on December 24th,1951, and she preceded him in death on September 22nd, 2017.
Eugene was a veteran of WWII having served his country in the United States Army. He obtained a Post Graduate degree and worked as a guidance counselor in the school system. He was also a Baptist minister pastoring at various churches.
