Jean Marie Shimek, 73, of Somerset,KY formerly of Campbellsville, KY was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 25, 1947. She departed this life on November 14, 2021 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington after an illness.

Mrs. Shimek was a former employee of Burger King, and a cherished mother & grandmother.

Children: Christine Singleton & husband Jason of Somerset, KY; Daniel Shimek and Sandra Price & husband Noel, both of Campbellsville, KY; and Albert Barker of Bowling Green, KY

2 siblings: Mary Lou Barker of Chicago and Phillip Barker of Campbellsville, KY
12 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren
A host of other friends & family

She was also preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Eileen Barker; a long-time companion: George Urban; and two siblings: Michael Barker and wife Kathy, and Peggy Barker.

   

Funeral Service: Friday, November 19, 2021 at 7:00pmET in the chapel of L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY
   

Visitation: Friday, November 19th beginning at 5:00pmET at the funeral home

In following with Mrs. Shimek's wishes, cremation will be accorded her after the service.
