COLONEL CARLOS HOWELL "HOBBY" DAVENPORT, 85, LOUISVILLE, KY (FORMERLY OF CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY)

 

Colonel Carlos Howell “Hobby” Davenport, 85, of Louisville, KY, son of the late Charles Edward “Horton” Davenport and Leora Frances Moran Davenport, was born on Sunday, March 22, 1936 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Monday, May 10, 2021 at his home. 


Carlos had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Lyndon First General Baptist Church in Louisville, KY where he served as Deacon. He was retired from General Electric after 41 years of service, worked for General Rubber & Plastic for 13 years, and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department for 12 years. Mr. Davenport was a Kentucky Colonel, avid golfer, loved to bowl and bowled for 54 plus years. He was involved in politics for 53 plus years, and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.


He was also preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Buckner Davenport on March 27, 2019 having united in marriage on May 21, 1955.


SURVIVORS:

2 daughters and a son-in-law: Roberta Diane and Gary Hiser of PeeWee Valley, KY; Vicky Robbins of Knob Lick, KY

6 grandchildren: Tiffany Robbins Hall, Michael Hiser, Bryan Hiser, Cody Hiser, Randy Puckett, and Andrew Robbins

16 great-grandchildren: Molly, Paisley Mae, Alysha, Finleigh, Carah, Brittany, Chloe, Briella, Audrey, Allie, Whitlee, Wyatt, Bobby, Will, Grayson, and Brayden

1 brother and sister-in-law: Randy & Karen Davenport of Greensburg, KY

3 sisters and a brother-in-law: Ollye Clark of Louisville, KY; Genevieve Buckner of Hodgenville, KY; and Gayle and Billy Holland of Greensburg, KY

Faithful dog and companion: Tessa

A host of other relatives & friends


Mr. Davenport was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dana Robbins; a brother, Thomas William Davenport; a sister, Hazel Cross; and 2 nephews: Joey Clark and Michael Todd Holland.

Funeral Service: Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00pmCT at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Poynter officiating

 

Burial: Davenport Cemetery  


Visitation: 4:00pm-8:00pmCT on Friday at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7:00amCT on Saturday 

 

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
