Margaret Coleen Howard Handy, 92, was born December 24, 1927 in Green County, KY to the late Frank Howard and Ruth Wilcox Howard Milby. She departed this life Friday, July 17, 2020 at her home in Green County.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a Lifelong member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother, Sunday School Teacher, Homemaker of the Year, had an avid love for Kentucky Farm Bureau and served as chairman of the Ladies Committee of Farm Bureau. She was a great neighbor. She was a beautician for fifty-four years.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ed Handy; brothers and sisters: George Robert and Thomas Howard, Mildred “Billie” Russell Smith, and Delia Wallace
SURVIVORS: 1 son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Ada Mae Handy; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Pam and Danny Burriss and Tammy and Keith Clements, all of Greensburg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bill and Mae Handy, Marlene Handy, Benny and Reba Handy, Rex Handy, Wilma and Bobby Landis; 6 grandchildren: Brian Burriss, Cathy Froggett, Laura Handy, Stacy Matney, Rachel Osborne and Keeton Clements; 12 great grandchildren: Slade, Layke, Allie Jo, Daylee and Dane Burriss, Mason Froggett, Adriauna Handy, D’Ante Starks, Laurian Starks and Raelyn Matney, Miles and Waylon Osborne; 2 great great grandchildren: Easton Burriss and Avion Pickens; best friend and caregiver: Pat Simpson; special friend: Don Rogers; special nieces and nephew: Kristy Janes, Mary Lou Edwards, and Robbie Howard; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a private graveside service conducted at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to Hosparus of Green River or the Alzheimer’s Association. These can be made at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home.
