OSCAR VALENTINE GASKINS, 86, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Oscar Valentine Gaskins, 86, of Campbellsville, KY (formerly of Russell Springs), passed from this life on Thursday, April 30, 2020 in Campbellsville. He was born to the late Lilburn and Sarah (Gadberry) Gaskins on December 19, 1933.
 
Mr. Gaskins had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Holiness faith. As a young man, he answered the call of duty and served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1952-1958. Mr. Gaskins was the devoted husband to Virginia (Sallee) Gaskins, who survives, and was a former service station manager in Russell County over 15 years. He loved the outdoors, and loved to go camping with his family on a regular basis. He was a talented rod and reel repairman; he loved to spend time with his family traveling to flea markets and yard sales searching for any fishing-related items he could trade on.
 
SURVIVORS:
Wife: Virginia Gaskins of Campbellsville
3 step-children: Mary Marcum of Campbellsville, Cynthia Posey & companion Donald Mattingly of Gravel Switch, and James Lewis Perkins of Arizona
2 sisters: Eva Ray Russell of Russell Springs, and Vonnie Mae Shepherd of Indiana
2 step-grandchildren: Mitchell Wright and Dustin Mattingly
5 step great-grandchildren
A host of extended family and friends
 
He was also preceded in death by 2 siblings: Everett Gaskins and Lucy Wilson.
 
All services for Mr. Gaskins were held privately.
 
L.R. Petty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
