Application To Demolish The Historic Merchants Hotel is Rejected

The Merchant Hotel in Campbellsville will not be torn down as of now due the historic preservation committee rejecting the demolition application.

A meeting was held today (Thursday) at the Civic Center, the committee said that the application that was submitted requesting to demolish the building was not completed and therefore it was rejected.

The historic hotel has been the center of attention in it's current state and the preservation committee is at odds with the property owner Will Patton over the buildings current condition.

Patton purchased the old hotel for $1.00 nearly twenty years ago and has made some improvements but it remains in violation of the City of Campbellsville's code of enforcements.
