Local and state officials gathered on Friday, June 2, 2023 for the dedication of the Rep. John "Bam" Carney Memorial Highway, which connects New Columbia Highway 55 to New Lebanon Road US 68. The project was started in the 1980s by former mayor Robert L. Miller, and years later, "Bam" Carney helped make this bypass a priority (and now a reality).
The new highway was dedicated Friday morning by Governor Andy Beshear, State Representative Sarge Pollock and Senator Max Wise. Bam's mother, June Carney and his son Ethan, unveiled the official sign.
