Fire Alarm Sounded Early Sunday Morning in Campbellsville

Campbellsville Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a report of a working apartment fire sunday morning at 2:01am, Fire Chief Chris Taylor said upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and flames showing from a lower unit on the charlie side. Firefighters searched for occupants, extinguished the fire and provided overhaul. No firefighter or civilians injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined but is suspicious in nature.

This building has been abandoned and mostly boarded up since a major fire on November 13, 2019. We have responded to numerous fires at this location over the years. This abandoned apartment building creates a hazardous life threating situation for fire-rescue personnel. While we believe that the building is abandoned, we still have a responsibility to save lives and protect property. We have to attempt search and rescue operations for potential homeless victims and extinguish the fire. We appreciate our mutual aid partners, volunteers, and paid staff for their dedication and service to the community.
