The Adair County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of suspicious activity on Saturday night on Highway 80, approximately 2.5 miles west of Columbia.

According to Adair County Sheriff Josh Brockman, Deputy McCarol made contact with the driver, Joseph Wise, 35, of Lebanon. Wise stated that he was out of gas and was going to get some and be on his way. Deputy McCarol observed a golf cart on the back of the truck and observed Green River Lake State Park sticker on the window. Park Rangers informed Sheriff Brockman that the golf cart had been stolen.

Wise was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking and was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail 

The golf cart, valued at over $5,000, was returned to the State Park.

The Sheriff's office is continuing the investigation.
