On Wednesday at approximately 6:18pmCT, KSP Post 15 in Columbia was notified of a 2-vehicle fatal collision on Celina Road. Preliminary investigations indicate that 60-year-old Tina Stephens of Celina, Tennessee was operating a north bound 2001 Honda when she crossed into the southbound lane striking a 1996 Buick head-on, being operated by 33-year-old William Young of Muncie, Indiana. Young and a passenger in his vehicle, Courtney Young, 33, of Muncie, IN were both wearing seatbelts. They were transported by Air Evac to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee where they are listed in critical condition. Stephens was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to the Monroe County Hospital where she was pronounced deceased by the Monroe County Coroner.
This collision is under investigation by Trooper Jonathan Paull. Tpr. Paull was assisted at the scene by other KSP personnel, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and Monroe County EMS.
