Joey Hoover has filed suit against the City of Columbia alleging age discrimination in not being hired as a detective for the Columbia police department. Hoover first applied for a position in November of 2018 when he was 51 years old. In 2019 the three available positions with the police department were filled by individuals much younger than Hoover. A lawsuit only provides the allegations of the Plaintiff, and the defendant City of Columbia has not yet responded to the allegations contained in the complaint.
