Drug arrest in Marion County

Lebanon, KY (January 23, 2020) - On January 16th, 2020 at approximately 8:20 PM EST Trooper Aron Jones was patrolling on New Campbellsville RD 6 miles south of Lebanon when he initiated a traffic stop on a 2019 Nissan Altima for a speeding violation. Tpr. Jones made contact with the driver, 27 year old Leah Duncan of Monticello, KY and noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Tpr. Dexter Colvin made contact with a passenger 27 year old Cedric Thompson of Danville, KY and detained him as he searched the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted resulting in marijuana, suspected methamphetamine and several prescription pills being located. Duncan was arrested and charged with Speeding 26 MPH <, trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense > 2grams methamphetamine, prescription controlled substance not in proper container 1st offense, trafficking in a controlled substance, 2nd degree 1st offense drug unspecified, trafficking in a controlled substance, 3rd degree 1st offense drug unspecified, trafficking in legend drugs 1st offense, trafficking in marijuana > 8 oz, possession of drug paraphernalia, and reckless driving. Thompson was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense > 2grams methamphetamine, prescription controlled substance not in proper container 1st offense, trafficking in a controlled substance, 2nd degree 1st offense drug unspecified, trafficking in a controlled substance, 3rd degree 1st offense drug unspecified. Both subjects were lodged in the Marion County Detention Center. Trooper Jones and Trooper Colvin were assisted by the Marion County Sheriffs Office.
