JEWELL DEAN SULLIVAN JONES, 85, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 
Jewell Dean Sullivan Jones, 85, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Stanley Sullivan and Myrtle Bookout Sullivan, was born July 10, 1937 in Taylor County and departed this life on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital.
 
She professed her faith in Christ and was a member of East Campbellsville Church of God. Jewell was very well known in Campbellsville as an employee of Kroger on Broadway for approximately 10 years. Her pleasant personality, bright smile, and the passion she had for her job brought joy to anyone around her. She worked at Fruit of the Loom for 40 plus years. Jewell loved spending time in the kitchen, watching cooking shows and using her skill to cook for her family. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her dog “Ginger.” She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all that knew her.
 
Jewell united in marriage to the love of her life at the age of 18 to Lloyd Harold Jones, who precedes her in death on January 1, 2011.

ALLISON GAIL RICHERSON GOODIN, 64, GREENSBURG, KY


Allison Gail Richerson Goodin, 64, of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late Joseph Allen and Beulah Brown Richerson, was born on March 16, 1958 in Campbellsville, KY and departed this life on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her home. 

 

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Allison worked as a florist for numerous years.  She also owned and operated an interior design business. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her family.

Cheryl Elaine (Hatton) Hubbard, 58, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Ronald Keith Hatton and Wilma Jean Mobley Hatton, was born May 9, 1964 in Columbus, Indiana and departed this life on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at her home in Campbellsville.

 

She professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Elwood Baptist Church. Cheryl graduated from college with an associate degree in business and worked for Seymour Tribune Newspaper for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

EDNA NELSON KILBY, 89, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Edna R. Nelson Kilby, 89, a long-time resident of Campbellsville, KY (formerly of the Saloma community), daughter of the late Jethro Glenn and Ida Bell Bacon Glenn, was born September 7, 1932 in Taylor County, KY. She passed away at 6:05 P.M. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in Greensburg.

 

She professed faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and at the time of her death, was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church of Campbellsville and a long-time member of South Campbellsville Baptist Church. Edna was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom and an avid fisherman, having held the family record for the largest bass caught at the time of her death.   

 

She united in marriage to Omer Lee Nelson, who passed away May 26, 1972.  She later married Paul Franklin, and after his passing, she united in marriage to Claude Kilby, who also preceded her in death.

Neal enjoyed music, movies, and Gears of war on Xbox and playing with his cellphone and listening to his favorite rapper: Eminem, but loved his family most of all.

Rebecca “Becky” Powers, 61, of Campbellsville, KY formerly of Louisville, KY was born April 19, 1961 in Rhode Island to Donald Powers and Judy (Rafiner) Persons-Powers and departed this life on Saturday, July 23, 2022 in Campbellsville at Taylor Regional Hospital. 
 
She was a former factory worker and Kroger in Louisville and most recently Dynacraft-Paccar in Louisville and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a Veteran, having served in the United States Army. Becky enjoyed reading, playing with her pets and spending time with family and friends.

Demesia Kaye Harrison, 66, of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of Retha (Barnett) Burton and the late Moss Burton was born July 2, 1956 in Campbellsville and departed this life on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at her home.

 

She was retired from TG Kentucky, was a former employee of fruit of the Loom, and was of the Christian Faith. Demesia enjoyed reading, watching crime shows and playing with her dog Max, but most of all she loved her family.

Nellie (Witham) Bowen, 94, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Johnnie Bob and Maggie Mae (Reeder) Witham, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, July 22, 2022 at her home. Born in Rockhouse Bottom in Russell County on January 23, 1928.

 

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Nellie was a retiree of Medco Nursing Home.

Nettie Cox, 83, of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of the late George and Nettie Grace (Wilson) Myers, was born March 30, 1939 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at her home.


Nettie had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the White’s Ridge General Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and was the owner and operator of Roy’s Grocery on Speck Ridge for over 25 years. She later became an employee of the Taylor County Elementary School, where she retired and later became a wonderful caregiver for numerous sick or elderly in the community.


She united in marriage on January 24, 1958 to Roy Eugene Cox, who preceded her in death in 1994.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Ricky was a retired auto mechanic and could fix anything.  He loved westerns, drag racing, UK basketball and especially his family.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a C.T. Technician for Jewish Hospital and helped with the Tax House. Cheryle loved animals, especially her dog, Cash aka, “Butt Nuggie”, and her horses. She enjoyed kayaking, fishing, gardening and the outdoors in general. She loved her family, friends, and especially hanging out with her Louisville friends.

Kathy Jo Paxton Dewees, 68, of Lexington, KY, daughter of the late Calvin Booker Paxton and Jean Marshall Hodges Paxton, was born on Sunday, December 27, 1953 in Green County and departed this life on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Central Baptist Health in Lexington.


Kathy graduated from Green County High School in 1971, received a BA in Music Education from Morehead State University in 1976, and a Rank 1 in Education from the University of Kentucky. She was an elementary music teacher for 34 years, mostly in Fayette County Public Schools. 

Kathy had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Southland Christian Church. She loved music-playing the piano and handbells, singing, leading children’s programs at school, and watching her own children perform music. She enjoyed trips to the beach, Bible study, movies, the St. Louis Cardinals, and had a love of cats. Time spent with her family was the most important thing to Kathy and her greatest legacy will be as a loving and selfless mother.

Tony worked for many years as a printer. He had many interests, which included being an artist and drawing. He enjoyed good music, sports and was a car enthusiast.

Gerald Ann Brown, 80, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late William Mings and Cora Farmer Mings, was born October 15, 1941 in Taylor County and departed this life on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY.

 

She professed her faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. Gerald worked at the Fruit of the Loom for many years as a set sleeve. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a dear friend.


She united in marriage to Ezra Thomas Brown on August 16, 1956 and he preceded her death in 1981.

Robert Dale Burton, Sr., 62, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Luther and Agnes Marie (DeHart) Burton, was born January 5, 1960 in Adair County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at his home.


He was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and Maintenance for the post office, but most recently he was self-employed. Mr. Burton was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, grilling and helping others.

         
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Albert, Alford, Alvin and David Burton

Regina Mae Parker, 74, of Elkhorn, KY was born on May 30, 1948 to the late Fred Vernon and Cora (Farmer) Watson. She departed this life on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at her home after an extended illness. 
 
Regina had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Whites Ridge General Baptist Church. She was a former school bus driver for the Taylor County School Systems and retired after 30+ years of service. She was also a former employee of Phillips Lanes Bowling Alley and Big K, a farmer, and a homemaker. Regina will be remembered best as a loving and cherished wife, mother, and grandmother.

REBECCA RUTH VARNEY WEBB, 60, ELIZABETHTOWN, KY

 

Rebecca Ruth Varney Webb, 60, was born July 4, 1962 in Elizabethtown, KY to the late Ruth Helen Martin Varney and Larry Jennings Varney. She went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2022 after a prolonged illness.


Rebecca made a profession of faith in Christ. She was an incredible, creative, gifted woman and will be sorely missed. She adored her grandchildren and family. She was a retired Registered Nurse. She enjoyed studying genealogy, quilting, and attending family cookouts and reunions.

THOMAS J. FRENCH, 84, HODGENVILLE, KY

 

Thomas J. French, 84, of Hodgenville, KY, son of the late Cooper and Verdie (Howell) French, was born in Larue County on September 16, 1937 and departed this life at his home on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

 

Thomas was retired from being an architecture of blueprints for contractors and construction workers.

TERESA LYNN MOATON, 52, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 
Teresa Lynn Moaton, 52, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of Carl Gurley of Florida, Linda Gurley of Illinois, and her other mother, Donna Burtcheard also of Illinois, was born on August 14, 1969 in Sandwich, Illinois and departed this life on Thursday, July 13, 2022 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

She was a caregiver, and her children and grandchildren were her world.

LUCY FAY VAUGHN, 81, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Lucy Fay Vaughn, 81, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late James Herbert Bowen and Maude Lee Wade Bowen was born August 5, 1940 in Taylor County, KY. She died at 7:46 P.M., Monday, July 11, 2022 in Campbellsville.

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Spurlington United Methodist Church. Fay was a former employee of General Telephone Company and was retired from Houchens Market after some 30 years of service. Fay was a hard worker all her life and liked to stay busy making pies and working in the yard. She loved her family especially the grandchildren and her little dog, Lucky.

HOWARD WAYNE EASTRIDGE, 83, KNIFLEY, KY

 

Howard Wayne Eastridge, 83, of Knifley, KY died Monday, July 11, 2022 in Louisville, KY from an extended illness. He was the son of the late Coy Eastridge and Opal Hovious Eastridge and was born on January 27, 1939 at the family’s home on Hovious Ridge.

 

He was a life-long farmer. He grew up on a dairy farm and continued dairy farming until the cows were sold in 2001. Upon selling the dairy cows, he continued with beef cattle, horses, pigs, and sheep. Throughout his farming career, he enjoyed caring for and trading many different animals, sometimes even exotic animals. He bred horses and donkeys for many years, including small and large donkeys until the time of his death. Over many years, he was an avid raccoon, rabbit, and quail hunter. He enjoyed hunting with many family members and passing this interest on to his two sons. He often spoke of hunting trips to Canada and Illinois. He traded hunting dogs for rabbits and raccoons for many years. He was an avid collector of knives and guns, which is an interest he passed on to his sons and daughter as well.   

 

He was married to Mildred Aliene Davidson Eastridge on January 27, 1959. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in January, 2022. She worked side-by-side with him on the farm and survives today.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Eastridge of Elkhorn.

MARCIA SUE REYNOLDS COLVIN, 82, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Marcia Sue Reynolds Colvin, 82, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Billie Reynolds and Catherine Graham Reynolds was born December 31, 1939 in Taylor County, KY. She died at 10:15 P.M., Tuesday July, 12, 2022 in Lebanon.

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Bible Baptist Tabernacle. She taught the Beginners Sunday Class for 39 years. Marcia Sue loved all people especially toddlers and provided childcare for many friends and family. In spite of her illness, she never lost her loving spirit and never failed to ask those she met if they were a Christian. She always kept a clean house for her family and loved to cook for others.

She was a former employee of 20+ years at Fruit of the Loom and most recently, a clerk at Dollar General and was of the Christian faith. Wanda enjoyed reading and gardening, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Kledith Ann Bagby Houk, 87, of Green County, KY, daughter of the late Elmo Bagby and Inez Judd Bagby, was born on February 21, 1935 in Green County and departed this life on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. 


Kledith had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greasy Creek Baptist Church. She was the co-owner of several businesses in her lifetime such as, the Exie Trading Post, Exie Grocery & Gas, Houk’s Antiques, Country Fashions, and for the past 30 years, Glover’s Station Antique Mall. Kledith loved her family, home, cooking, quilts, antiques, reading, music, crossword, sudoku, and jigsaw puzzles. She was also practically impossible to beat at scrabble.


Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edward Ray Houk on May 5, 2015 having united in marriage on November 11, 1952 and by one brother & two sisters: Bernard Ray Bagby, Louella Turner, and Phyllis Akin.

Maxine Jones, 100, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Welby Russell Simpson and Cassie Irene Woodrum Simpson, was born November 30, 1921 in Adair County, KY. She died at 6:55 P.M. on Friday, July 8, 2022 in Campbellsville.

 

Maxine professed faith and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom. Maxine enjoyed cooking meals for her family during get-togethers, babysitting and taking care of everyone as much as she could.

 

She united in marriage to Elzie “Zeb” Jones October 16, 1942 and he preceded her in death February 15, 2014. She was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Christopher Gray; 2 great-grandchildren: Christopher David Sexton, and Gerald Douglas Cox III; and 4 brothers and 1 sister: Lanis Simpson, Fred Simpson, E.H. Simpson, Glenn Simpson, and Ruth Simpson.

Regina Robin Stearman Johnson, 56, was born on July 31, 1965 in Greensburg, KY to the late James T. Stearman, Sr. and Barbara Jean Larimore Stearman. She passed away at her home in Campbellsville, KY on Saturday, July 9, 2022. 

 

Regina graduated with the Class of 1983 from Green County High School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the time of her passing.

Graveside services for Regina Robin Stearman Johnson will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Central Time, Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

MORRIS GOFF, 93, GREENSBURG, KY

 

Morris W. Goff, 93, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late John W. and Ruth Bale Goff, was born on July 25, 1928 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022. 

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church. Mr. Goff owned and operated Greensburg Auto Parts for over 50 years. He served two terms as Green County Judge-Executive. He was also a member of the Greensburg Rotary Club, the Green County Republicans and a former member of the hospital board. He coached the local American Legion baseball team all the way to the runner-up position in the World Series. Morris enjoyed the time spent with his family. He never met a stranger and travelled the county talking and visiting with friends.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Smith Goff on August 4, 2020, having united in marriage on April 25, 1948 and by 2 brothers: Earl Goff and Carl Goff.

Richard Allen Schwab, 90, was born November 6, 1931 in Pennsylvania to the late Margaret McCown Schwab and Frederick Allen Schwab. He departed this life Friday, July 8, 2022 at his home in Campbellsville, KY.

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Catholic faith. He was a civil engineer. He also served in the Army during the Korean War.

 

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Alla-Mae Schwab and one daughter, Cynthia Kaleher.

Linda Marie Turcotte, 76, of the Allendale Community of Green County, KY, the daughter of the late Thomas Reece and Sarah Estelle (Pigg) Futch, was born September 24, 1946 in the Panama Canal Zone of Central America and departed this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at her home.

         

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Christian Biblical Church of God Faith. Linda worked many years in the healthcare field. She enjoyed reading and after moving to Kentucky, she and her husband enjoyed being extreme animal lovers tending to their dogs, horses and cattle, but most of all spending time with family, especially her grandkids.

Audrey Mae Reynolds Cowherd, 94, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Billie Reynolds and Willie Ada Caulk Reynolds, was born April 3, 1928 in Taylor County, KY. She died at 12:06 P.M., Tuesday, July 5, 2022 in Columbia, KY. 

 

Audrey professed faith in Christ and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She united in marriage to Charles Lee Cowherd November 24, 1944 and he preceded her in death August 13, 2013. Audrey loved her family, from her children and grandchildren, to siblings and nieces and nephews. She was married to her devoted husband of 69 years, whom she adored. She spoke often of her love for her parents and grandparents. Audrey loved children and believed each one was a precious gift from God. She loved having people around. Her door was always open to family, friends and even their friends. Audrey loved animals, especially dogs and cats and for a time, raised Maltese and Basenji dogs. She had also been an antique dealer and proprietor of Audrey’s Antiques. She modeled generosity, selflessness and loving one another all her life. More than anything, she loved Jesus and taught her family about His love and grace and the power of praise and prayer.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Washington Baptist Church. Jean was a homemaker and enjoyed being outdoors working on her flowers, going to the fruit market, watching birds and county fairs, but most of all, her children and grandchildren.

         

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Bell in 2007; six brothers and sisters: Elizabeth Burchett, Howard Thomas Nelson, Omer Lee Nelson, Charles Leonard Nelson, Woodrow Wilson Nelson, Willard Earl Nelson, and Stella Nelson Underwood; and a half-sister, Mary Nelson Whitlock.

He professed faith in Christ and attended Southeast Christian Church in Elizabethtown. Perry was a Special Education teacher at John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown. He enjoyed going to concerts, sports and riding rollercoasters. He especially liked spending time with Erin and his two Pugs, Jr. and Kenny.

SUE DOWELL, 81, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY


Sue Dowell, 81, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Rich Smythe and Lois Dillon Blair Smythe, was born on May 6, 1941 in Adair County, KY.  She died at 5:18 P.M., Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in Elizabethtown.

 

Sue loudly confessed her faith in Christ and was a member of Kellyville Community Church. Sue was a businesswoman, known to be stylish, elegant and classy. She was also known for her amazing cooking, with the main ingredient being love. Sue was nurturing and devoted to her friends and family.

 

Sue was united in marriage to Tommy Dowell, on November 11, 1959, who preceded her in death on November 4, 2010.

1 son: Tommy Dowell Jr. of Campbellsville

1 daughter: Debbie Richdale & husband Bradford of Austin Texas

3 grandchildren: Andrew Richdale of San Francisco, California, Derek Richdale & wife Juliet of San Diego, California, and Rachael Dowell and Chris Bashum of Bowling Green

4 great-grandchildren: Gabriel Bashum, Axel Bashum, Abbie Richdale, and Nora Richdale

1 sister: Bobbie McKinney

Sue was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Fred Smythe, Paul Allen Smythe, and Jane Corbin.

MICHELLE NEWTON YATES, 54, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY


Michelle Newton Yates, 54, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Dorris Ray Newton and Ruth Adams Newton, was born July 28, 1967 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She died Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in Campbellsville.

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of New Journey Church. Michelle was a kind hearted person who loved her family and her Lord.  She was a wonderful wife, nah nah, mom, sister and aunt. Her favorite drink was Ski in a can and the beach was her happy place.

1 daughter: Chanci Jo Yates of Campbellsville

Special daughter: Shelby Wood of Campbellsville

SUSAN CAROLE WATSON, 67, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY


Susan Carole Watson, 67, the daughter of the late John and Mayme Lucille (Sprowles) Underwood, was born October 7, 1954 in Taylor County and departed this life on Wednesday, June 28, 2022 in Campbellsville at her home.

         
She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith. Susan enjoyed painting crafts, caring for her flowers and plants, birdwatching, hiking and exploring.

3 children: Johnny Watson, Mickey Watson and Amy Watson all of Campbellsville

2 sisters: Dianna Dicken and Kathy Hicks both of Campbellsville

1 brother: Ray Underwood of Campbellsville

2 half-brothers: Billy Bell & wife Jane of Raywick and Phillip Underwood of Campbellsville

1 step-sister: Joyce Burton of Campbellsville

3 grandchildren: Brooklyn Holler, Dre-Mareon Girly and Apollo Embry

3 step-grandchildren: Timothy Lanham, Jordan Summers and Dustin Summers

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Underwood; a half-brother, Delbert Bell; and a daughter-in-law, Jessica Watson.

Interment: Palestine Cemetery

 

Visitation: After 10:00 A.M. Sunday

JERRY WADE LOYALL, 64, GREENSBURG, KY


Jerry Wade Loyall, 64, of the Summersville community of Green County, son of Alene Elmore Loyall and the late Earl Loyall, was born on October 14, 1957 and departed this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his home.

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church. Mr. Loyall retired from the Green County Road Department. He was a farmer, enjoyed fishing and John Deere tractors.
