Nancy Jane "Jane" Buchanan Roution, 90, Campbellsville, KY

Nancy Jane “Jane” Buchanan Roution, 90, of Campbellsville, KY passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. peacefully in her sleep at CNRC where she had resided since 2020. She was born on June 13, 1933 in Campbellsville to the late Fred and Evelyn Buchanan.

Jane was raised in Campbellsville along with her two brothers and one sister. Her father was a local businessman and her mother was a nurse in Campbellsville. Jane graduated from Campbellsville High School in 1951. She was married on February 20, 1954 to William “Bill” Roution. The couple spent time in Indianapolis, Indiana while Bill worked at concrete construction and Jane in a veterinary clinic.

Bill and Jane had four children: Brian, Barry, Brad and Alicia. The family would settle back into Taylor County around 1964. Bill created his own concrete construction company while Jane was a stay-at-home mom. A lifelong animal lover, Jane also volunteered at the local animal hospital and SPCA. She began working at Taylor Count Hospital in 1977 as a patient care aide until retiring after 35 years of service. She spent most of her years at TCH in Labor and Delivery and even catching a few babies. Jane was known for her detailed work ethic, dedication to patients and jovial attitude. After retirement, she stayed at home with patients to provide daily care until 2017.

Jane showed pure love and devotion throughout her life to God, family and country.  A true patriot, she proudly sent all three sons to Camp Lejeune to be trained as United States Marines. Jane and her mother’s love of nursing was passed down to her only daughter. With great enthusiasm, Jane would follow college basketball each year as an avid UK Wildcats basketball fan throughout her life. Jane was also active in her church and loved Bible study. After retirement, she enjoyed group travel throughout the United States. In 1999 at age 66, Jane started classes at Campbellsville College and continued until 2002. Granny Jane also adored all her grandchildren and cherished spending holidays and birthdays with family.

Jane was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, William “Bill” Roution; and by four brothers and two sisters: Frederick Hoskins Buchanan, Evelyn Cheuvront Buchanan, Billy Joe Buchanan, Robert Buchanan, Thomas Buchanan and Betty Gaye Buchanan Lowe.
