Taylor County Home Destroyed After Lightning Strike Tuesday

Taylor County Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1:30pm Tuesday afternoon at 3145 Elkhorn Rd, Big Dawg News has learned that initial reports at time of dispatch was that the house was on fire with flames through the roof.
Upon arrival firefighters found a two story vinyl sided residence with heavy fire and smoke throughout the second story with fire through the roof, firefighters entered the residence, searched for any occupants and attacked the fire with multiple lines.
Additional manpower and apparatus was requested from Green County Fire Department due to the size of the residence and extent of the fire. Witness stated the house had been struck by lightning.
No firefighters were injured however one resident was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital due to possible smoke inhalation and minor burns.
 
Responding TCFD units: Engine 60, Engine 62, Engine 63, Tanker 65 and 17 Firefighters.
